Surfactant Apoprotein-A [32E12] Description
The expression of Surfactant-apoprotein-A (SP-A) by the tumor cells has been a helpful diagnostic tool for the identification of primary carcinomas of the lung. SP-A is expressed in pneumocytes II of lung tissue and in a portion of non-small cell lung carcinomas. Immunohistochemically detected SP-A using the monoclonal antibody 32E12 in conjunction with thyroid transcription factor-1 (or other lung carcinoma identifying antibodies) may be a useful means of diagnosing lung malignancies of unknown primary origin. SP-A does not cross-react with thyroid.
